Charges expected after truck slams into back of school bus in P.E.I.

The RCMP are investigating after a pickup truck slammed into the back of a school bus carrying 26 children in Central Bedeque, P.E.I. Police say the collision happened on Route 171 around 3:20 p.m. Thursday. Police say the school bus had stopped to allow children to exit the vehicle when it was struck from behind by the truck. No one was injured in the collision. Police say the incident is under investigation, but charges under the Highway Traffic Act are expected to be laid against the driver of the truck.Read More

Police said a male who fled police custody late Wednesday night, but managed to escape, was arrested again early Thursday morning. Edmonton Police said officers pulled over a suspicious vehicle in the area of 141 Street and 121 Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Officers took 22-year-old Luke Belcourt into custody, but he escaped the area on foot while still wearing handcuffs. A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle. On Friday around 4:22 p.m. Saskatoon police were called to the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Taylor Street East for a report of a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle. When police arrived on scene, they found an injured 19-year-old man. The man was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing. A transport truck and a passenger vehicle collided on a Highway 401 off-ramp Friday morning, leaving one person hurt. The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. on the ramp from the westbound lanes of the highway to Highway 6 North. According to the OPP, one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. The ramp remained closed as of noon as police investigated the crash.
