Charges expected after truck slams into back of school bus in P.E.I.

The RCMP are investigating after a pickup truck slammed into the back of a school bus carrying 26 children in Central Bedeque, P.E.I. Police say the collision happened on Route 171 around 3:20 p.m. Thursday. Police say the school bus had stopped to allow children to exit the vehicle when it was struck from behind by the truck. Police said a male who fled police custody late Wednesday night, but managed to escape, was arrested again early Thursday morning. Edmonton Police said officers pulled over a suspicious vehicle in the area of 141 Street and 121 Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Officers took 22-year-old Luke Belcourt into custody, but he escaped the area on foot while still wearing handcuffs. A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle. On Friday around 4:22 p.m. Saskatoon police were called to the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Taylor Street East for a report of a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle. A transport truck and a passenger vehicle collided on a Highway 401 off-ramp Friday morning, leaving one person hurt. The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. on the ramp from the westbound lanes of the highway to Highway 6 North. According to the OPP, one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision.
