Windsor’s top cop is encouraging his police officers to abstain from smoking pot. Edmonton police officers will not be allowed to consume recreational cannabis when the drug becomes legal next week. “Police are held to a different standard than civilians, and may be called for duty at any time in the event of an emergency,” spokesperson Cheryl Voordenhout told CTV News in an email. Two off-duty Saskatoon police officers helped arrest an impaired driver after a crash on Friday evening. The two officers were getting into their personal vehicle around 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of 20th Street West when police say they saw a car almost hit a pedestrian and hit a parked vehicle.
