Local historical society hopes to preserve a piece of Georgian Bay history

A group local of volunteers is trying to save a beacon of light that overlooks Georgian Bay. Older than Canada itself, the Nottawasaga Lighthouse is one of six imperial towers built on the Great Lakes in the mid-1800s and has been a staple in the community since. The guiding light was decommissioned in 2003; a lightning strike severely damaged the tower the following year.
